The 35th Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday observance will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019. The annual march will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the old St. Francis Catholic Center, 708 Avenue I to West MLK Drive and turn right onto Avenue E, north to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Marchers are encouraged to carry flags, banners and signs while wearing identifying badges, emblems or uniforms in support of peace and brother-sisterhood to promote unity. After the march, the program begins at 2:30 p.m. at Friendship MB Church, the choir is providing the song service and Dr. Leroy Williams, Jr., pastor of Jones Chapel #2 MB Church in Greenwood, will be the featured speaker. Support for the MLK Scholarship Fund is encouraged – checks can be made payable to The Memorial Foundation, Inc.for the collection at the program.
