The students in grades Pre-kindergarten through grade six have a scheduled library period once a week where the students learn library skills, enjoy a good book and sign out books to read.

The Saint Francis School library has a wonderful assortment of books available for the students to read due to the kindness and generosity of peope all over the United States.  Schools, library associations, and individuals have contributed books to the school for years, helping us to build up a great assortment of reading material.

The school librarian hosts a Book Fair each year giving the students and families the opportunity to purchase books for their homes.  The profit frome these sales helps the library to purchase new books.

Sandra Sams


Mrs. Sandra Sams was born in Chickamauga, GA.  She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1971 with a BA in European History.  In 1996 she received a Master's degree in Gifted Studies from the Mississippi University for Women. 

She taught Gifted Students in the Greenwood Public Schools for 21 years.  She was hired as the librarian for St. Francis August of 2011.  In August of 2012 she received her certification in Library Science.

She is married to Dr. Larry Sams, a retired English Professor. She has two daughters, Rachel and Amelia.  Amelai is married to Sam Whittington.  Mrs. Sams enjoys reading, gardening and watching reruns of Criminal Minds in her free time.
